Bike Safety Study with Velo AI

Project Overview

In the summer of 2024, the DDA partnered with Common Cycle and start-up company, Velo AI, to measure risk and comfort for people riding bikes in the City of Ann Arbor.

Using AI-enabled bike lights and community volunteer cyclists, the data captured passing vehicle speeds and distances from cyclists as they traveled on bike routes across different areas of the city.

The data collected offers insight into the current effectiveness of our local bike infrastructure and can be used to find areas that need more investment.
