Zipcar Ann Arbor

Continuing its commitment to support and fund alternative transportation programs in the downtown, including go!passes, the getDowntown Program, bike lockers, and more, the DDA supported bringing Zipcars to downtown Ann Arbor in 2008-09. There are currently 10 Zipcars in downtown. To ensure convenient access, the DDA committed highly visible public parking spaces to the Zipcars: 2 are located at the Fourth and Catherine Parking Lot (across from the Farmer's Market), 2 are located at the Main and William Parking Lot (right next to Palio Restaurant), 2 are located on Washington Street between Fifth and Division, and 2 are located in the First and William Lot.
Zipcar is a growing company that provides hourly car rental services to universities and downtowns throughout the nation and the world. Their technology allows members to see which cars are available, sign them out online and then simply walk to the car and wave their keycard to turn the car on. Zipcar provides a card for gas and handles the cleaning and maintenance of the vehicle. They are green as well as convenient; every one Zipcar takes 15-20 personally owned vehicles off the road.
